Not only being picturesque, Khe Van Waterfall also owns a cultural aspect. This waterfall is where you can see San Diu and San Chi ethnic couples sing soong co (folk songs of their groups) while going on dates. The fourth day of the forth lunar month is believed not to be a favorable day for any work by these ethnic groups. If they build a house, the house will collapse or if they plant trees, the trees will not blossom. On that day, people set aside all works and go out to enjoy relaxing time at the area’s streams, lakes and waterfalls. Halong bay Paradise cruise

In spite of the beauty and ethnic interest of the site, here, tourism has not developed and sleeping at homestays is the only choice for tourists’ stay.

On the other hand, not only holding onto its pristine, the site still attracts so many backpackers.

Here, you can enjoy your stay with the local residents in their houses as well as sample many local food specialties including: boiled crabs and snails (caught in the mountains) and grilled fish (caught in the streams) and enjoy their singing. At night, you can gather around the bonfires together with many young backpackers. After dancing and singing, guests can be invited to try boiled buffalo horn-shaped cakes, whose stuffing includes sticky rice and mung bean as well as help the local women to wrap this cake. Before boiling the cakes to fete hungry tourists at midnight, people have to use bamboo leaves to wrap them.

To discover the mountainous region, trekkers can choose different routes. Some border markers are placed on the road and easy to find, others are hidden on fields and mountains while many would like to ride motorbikes and go trekking to admire the postcard-like sceneries and pay a visit to some landmarks along the Hoanh Mo Border Gate and the border.
